Setting up of the Naneum Hilton 2005

Setting up the Naneum Hilton is almost as much work as tearing it down.  Sometimes it is a process that takes a few days.  I have always taken pictures of each years tear-down, but have usually not been present for the set up process.  Well, that all changed this year.  So, here we go - pictures of that event!

The people involved this year were Hair Bear, Magnet and his lady Kimmy, Silver Fox and his lady Amanda (this was Amanda's first trip to the valley, and like the rest of us, she has fallen in love with it), The Grizz, Rozum and his son Ryan.  Our clan all arrived about 3 a.m. on Saturday morning and slept under the stars.  It was a gorgeous, clear, VERY COLD night.  Rozum and Ryan arrived later Saturday morning.

Every Set Up starts on the home front - lots of loading up to do.  It's a REALLY BIG job!

Usually the trailer & the big trunk are loaded to the brim with camp items.

A second trip is usually needed to haul up the food and mattresses.

Yes, we had some college kids that came into camp last summer - and PIGS that they were - this was the mess they left - they also burned the old out house.  PIGS like this should NOT be allowed in this valley!!!!

They tore up stumps and just made a total mess of the fire pit!  It took almost a whole day for Dan to rebuild the mess they had done with the fire pit.  Dirty Ernie was NOT pleased - to say the least.

So, that's setting up camp.  Everyone warm and snug from the cold of the valley night.  Warm stove, good food and great people.  A good end to a hard day!
